Dzongu Homestay Trek

Lying in the exquisite land of North Sikkim, Dzongu is a homeland to Lepcha community. Lepchas are the original natives of Sikkim. Offering the guests an amazing potpourri of nature's opulence and rejuvenating serenity, Dzongu is flanked by Kanchenjunga Biosphere Reserve where immaculate glacial streams make its path through the opaque lush woods. Moreover, innumerable waterfalls gush down the sheer cliff-sides and hot spring effervesce inside the hidden caves. This trek incorporates visiting fascinating regions such as Mangan, Kusong, Tingvong, Lingthem, Gyathang, Gangtok, etc. The tour is idyllic to satiate adrenaline rush in nature's lap.

Day 01: Bagdogra - Gangtok (4 hours drive)

On arrival at Bagdogra airport, meet our representative, who will welcome you and transfer you to Gangtok. On the way to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, we will pass through tea gardens near Bagdogra airport crossing big rivers like River Teesta and River Rangeet and following small and beautiful villages. An overnight stay in hotel in Gangtok.

Day 02: Gangtok - Mangan (3 hours drive)

After breakfast in the morning, we will drive towards Mangan, which will take approximately 3 hrs to reach. The drive to Mangan is very picturesque as you will pass through different villages, streams and waterfalls. On arrival in Mangan, you will meet our representative, who will brief you about the trip to Dzongu and assist you to get a special permit to Dzongu. Enjoy an overnight stay in Homestay in Mangan.

Day 03: Mangan - Kusong

In the morning after breakfast, we will drive from Mangan to Tingvong Village, which takes approximately 2 hrs. On the way, you will get an insight views of rivers and rich biodiversity which is simply spectacular. Later return back to your homestay for lunch. Thereafter, hike to Kusong Village, which takes approximately 2 hrs walk. As you will gradually walk over the oath, you will come across an old monastery, where the villagers meet at different festive occasions. The walk is not very strenuous and can be conquered by any age group.

Kusong village is settled on the lap of a mountain where almost 20 -30 households reside. Some interesting features of the village are old traditional houses, magnificent mountain views of the Mt. Kangchendzonga, corn fields, caves and the local people. In the evening return back to Tingvong village. Enjoy an overnight stay in Homestay in Tingvong.

Day 04: Tingvong to Lingthem

Today in the morning after breakfast, we will drive to Passingdang from Tingvong, which takes approximately 45 minutes. From Tingvong, we will hike to Lingthem which takes 3 hrs. The walk to Lingthem village is very strenuous and meant especially for the brave hearted. The views from Lingthem are considered to be the best as you can see kaleidoscopic views of Mt. Kangchendzonga. The village is located almost on the top of the mountain and vast terrain of Dzongu can be seen. An overnight stay in Homestay in Lighthem.

Day 05: Lingthem to Hee Gyathang

Today in the morning, we will proceed to Hee Gyathang, which is a bank opposite to Mangan. From here, you will be able to see the river valley of the Teesta River. On the way, you will come across a small sacred pond, the Lepchas believe that one of the tribes of Lepcha originated from this lake. Also, while driving one will come across different species of vibrant butterflies fluttering almost everywhere. The local handicraft centre has some of the most unique crafts like the Lepcha Hat, intricately woven. An overnight stay in Homestay at Hee Gyathang.

Day 06: Hee Gyathang to Gangtok

After early breakfast, we will proceed for three and half hours drive to Gangtok. On arrival in Gangtok, check into hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 07: Gangtok to Bagdogra & Departure

After breakfast, drive back to the Bagdogra airport to catch the flight for onward destination.
